![]() BUT both of my Ricks are 24.75" and they are ALWAYS in tune. Subjectively, that seems to be the case with the PRS HBII. Conversely, I've read that the 25" scale "substantiates" better intonation. In talking with a couple of local afficianados, it seems like the guitar scale can generally determine the fretboard width - hence the reason the 24.75"* can yield high fretboard width close to 2". BUT, at a glance, I don't readily see that it comes with a Piezo? Piezo is a requirement - with the humbuckers and ~2" fretboard width. My first electric 6 was an Ibanez (CN 100 BK loved that neck) - so thanks for suggesting the AM153QA will definately go off and research that as well. Never heard of Godin so yeah will DEFINATELY explore that. will be looking at ratings/reviews/user experiences. I'm now considering small custom shops (, ) or custom at or. Update: Guitar Center had no neck data (beyond what is posted on the net) on the Schecter C-1 E/A they said right now the guitar is "pre-order only" (i.e., new, no stock yet might only be a limited production run). I briefly felt the Pattern Thin neck of a CE24 at Chuck Levin’s (Weaton MD) it seemed to "feel" closer to a slim-fast neck, but the PRS specs on their site say that it too is 2 1/4" wide at the body.Ĭhagrined about the PRS great guitar, but looking to learn about other humbucker hollow or semi-hollow body electrics with Piezo - for an optional acoustic sound - that have a slimmer neck across the fretboard. Transition mid-set from the Ricks to the PRS is unnatural and inhibiting due to the variance of feel. The width of the PRS - and seemingly most PRS guitars - at the body is 2.25" - and for me the difference is very noticable. The width of the fretboard of my Rick 360 at the body is 2" the 12-string is only a tiny bit more. ![]() ![]() While the PRS fulfills all my other needs/expectations, what I have found is that, while my hands are not "Carny-small," I really miss the 335 neck/fretboard width. (And for some Gibson readers who can appreciate this, the 335 was a bit of a dog when it came to tuning.) Getting the PRS meant fewer guitar changes in our sets - as the PRS provided a satisfactory 6-string acoustic sound with the flip of the toggle switch. ![]() My other two stage guitars are a Rick 360 and a Rick 330-12 - both have slim necks very similar to the the ‘60’s slim-taper, Modern Flat Oval “D” Shape neck of the 2018 335. The PRS actually "replaced" both a 335 and an Epiphone jumbo acoustic. I recently sold a 2018 Gibson ES 335 to "trade up" to a 2016 Hollowbody II Core with Piezo – and I am learning that the PRS Pattern Wide neck is "too wide" across fretboard for me where the neck meets the body. Can anyone suggest any alternatives to the PRS Hollowbody II - where the fretboard width is not as wide as the PRS? ![]()
